The Churchwell Drive Reconstruction Project widened the existing roadway, provided a 127 space public parking lot for nearby beach access, provides pedestrian sidewalks and bicycle lanes, relocates overhead utilities underground and replaces the existing bridge. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) provided the funding for the new bridge which includes a walkway for pedestrians as well as bicycle lanes. The improvements to this corridor allow for more efficient transit between Front Beach and Middle Beach Roads and increases safety for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.
The cost of the project was approximately $6.9 million, which included the FDOT funded bridge.
Marshall Brothers Industrial was the construction contractor.
